My name is Laura and I create unique and personalized book folding art. Each piece of art is handcrafted by me, each and every fold. These handmade, personalized gifts are made from recycled/upcycled books. Why and How? |
Books tell stories, but they have their own history: some will never know an owner, others will pass from hand to hand, others will be forgotten on a bench in a park or in the subway. And then there are those who will sleep in a library without ever having been read or conversely novels that have been read 10 times by the same owner.
Making sculptures from used books is to give them a second life. The method I use is personal and takes me time and research to arrive at such an accurate rendering. These books that I sculpt are folded, not cut. Each sculpture takes many hours and much patience to design, calculate, measure and fold. I create sculptures to order. Depending on the personality of the recipient of the sculpture, tastes and passions. Then, with great patience, I give birth to the desired book origami. By opening this site, I wanted both a souvenir of various books that I could create and pursue my creative work. |

These unique, custom, handmade keepsakes are created by carefully folding each individual page of a recycled/upcycled book and can be customized for any word, name, initials, numbers, dates and shapes. Simply specify your preferred design when ordering. Or contact me to discuss your custom piece.

I choose books based on pages and thickness. Books are chosen randomly. Color of the hard cover will vary. However, if you want to avoid a certain color, please do let me know.
