Birthday week. My birthday week! I'm not tooting my own horn, nor looking for congratulations, but I do love to celebrate birthday's. Not just mine, but everyone's birthday! And, while I'm at it, why not celebrate for a whole week! It's a thing. I looked it up.
According to the Urban Dictionary (a reputable source), Birthday Week, "The week surrounding one's birthday when they SHOULD get any wish they desire and all of their friends and family should bow to all of their whims of fancy." YES!
My family did just that for me. Mom made my favorite Almond Paste Cheesecake with Oreo Cookie Crust and Raspberry Sauce. Oh... My... Gosh.
It starts with Oreo Cookies crushed and mixed with melted butter.
Then, the Almond Paste... oh yum, the almond paste.
Eggs, cream cheese, etc., etc.
And then into the oven.
And if that wasn't enough! My husband made my favorite... Alaskan King Crab Legs!
Yes, I've seen "Deadliest Catch". I think it's dreadful. If you haven't seen it, I don't recommend it. (I hope the Discovery Channel doesn't get wind of this blog) Well, honestly... every episode is just like another. Seen one, seen 'em all.
I digress. King Crab Legs. When I lived in NYC I LOVED to go to City Island for my birthday. Crab Shanty is THE place. If you've never been, I highly recommend it. Although... I haven't been in 12 year so it could have changed. I remember the BEST crab legs and garlic bread. Oh! The garlic bread! Big chunks of garlic and butter. Heck, why not give it a shot.
My point was... my husband. My husband made me King Crab Legs. What a sweetheart. And... they were GREAT.
And then, just when you think you're going to explode. It's time for Birthday Cake! Remember the cake? Served with a good cup of coffee and raspberry sauce. Mmmmmmm
There were trips to the Adirondacks and visits with friends and family. All in all, a wonderful Birthday Week. Thanks for sharing it with me! And when it's your Birthday Week. Let's celebrate that too!
